The article substantiates the methodological apparatus and methodological tools for the study of the possibilities of social deprivation in different social groups belonging to low-income strata of regional society. The relevance of the study is caused by the contradiction between the accumulation of social potential, available to many representatives of the poor, on the one hand, and the lack of a sociological approach to the implementation of this potential in social strategies, which would help to reduce the levels of social deprivation of these groups, on the other hand.
